Hauora - Personal Wellbeing

21st July

To finish of our Hauora Unit we completed 'Our Hauora Kete'  which are baskets that hold the four elements that make us who we are.

Those four elements are:

1. Physical Wellbeing
2. Relationships
3. Emotional Wellbeing
5. Personal Wellbeing

Here are some photos of our Kete

Wow thank you to all the parents who contributed to the making of the unhealthy and healthy faces made from food.

The children worked collaboratively today to use Stop Motion to make up their face and the faces are amazing.

We will have an open afternoon where parents and caregivers will be invited to come and view the movies.  Also we will now need to vote to see which movie will be seen at the end of term reflection assembly.

Kowhai you amaze me with your creativity and ability to work together.

20th June 2016

Dear Parents / Caregivers

In Kowhai this week we will be using healthy and unhealthy food to make a face as part of our Hauroa – Personal Wellbeing Unit.  This food will be used by the children to make a Stop Motion Video.  The children will eat the food once the videos have been completed.

The children have been placed in to groups of three.  They have discussed if they are doing either healthy or unhealthy.  They have made a list of food required and may have brought it home last Friday.  The food will need to be brought to school on Friday 24th June, so we can do the videoing.

If you cannot bring their food please let me know and I will try and get the food for them or we can change it to something you may have.

If you would like to see what we are trying to accomplish please view a short stop motion animation by using the link on our class blog under the tab – Hauora.

The videos will be viewed by the children who will then vote to see which video will feature, as Kowhai’s contribute to the end of term reflection assembly.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Regards
Lorna Meade

Here are some of the videos of the children working together to figure out what type of face they would do, designing it and make decisions about foods they would use to make their faces.
